Seeds of faith can’t grow unless they are watered! God has called us to be Disciples of Christ and opportunities abound at Forest Hills Presbyterian to grow in faith in God and encourage us in our Christian walk. We offer a variety of Bible studies, Sunday school classes and seasonal studies.
We offer Sunday school classes for children and adults at 9:15 a.m. in the classrooms located in the U-shaped building behind the chapel.
All of our children’s teachers and volunteers have completed our Child Protection Policy training course and a background check. Most of our teachers are current or retired educators from Hillsborough County schools. Our classes offer age-appropriate Bible lessons and are designed to help our children learn about God and how to put their faith into practice in daily life.
K-5 – Our primary class meets in room 13/14 with George and Marcia Suter and Kelli Rivera. Children learn Bible lessons through stories and games, using Cokesbury’s Deep Blue curriculum.
6-12 – Middle and high school students meet in room 4 with Barbara Lien and Karen Zinszer to delve deeper into what it means to be a Christian in today’s society. They use the Claim the Life curriculum.
Nursery – Betty Mullis, our nursery coordinator, teaches lessons using the Wee Children at Church curriculum during worship at 10:30 a.m.
Adults – The Wired Word meets in room 1 and discusses current events from a Christian perspective using scripture and introspective questions. Class members receive the lessons via email each week and a rotation of teachers leads the discussion.
Over the Cup meets in room 15 and uses DVD curriculums and discussion to learn how to follow Jesus and apply our faith to daily life. No advance preparation or homework required. Jennifer Ghodsi leads the class.
Children’s church is available for children kindergarten through 5th grade. Children are escorted from worship to Larrick Hall for age-appropriate Bible lessons, games and crafts. Fun, faith and friendship is nurtured here! Children’s church is coordinated by Jennifer Gregory, Val Weeks and a team of dedicated volunteers.
Youth group for kids in grades 6-12 is held Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in our youth room, located between our chapel and craft cottage. New Direction Youth Ministries exists to honor God by introducing students to Jesus Christ, connecting them with other Christians, and teaching them to love God and others, to grow in Christ and community, and to reach their neighbors and the nations. At youth group, teens worship, play games and learn about God using Bible-based lessons.

The University Circle meets at University Village the third Thursday at 1 p.m. The Peace Circle meets the fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. on our church campus. The Harmony Circle meets the fourth Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. on campus. For more information about these studies and locations, call the church office (813) 932-6149.
Our men’s breakfast group meets the first Tuesday of every month for Bible study and fellowship at 6:30 a.m. at Mama’s Kitchen at 9312 N. Florida Avenue. Reg Dickey is the group coordinator.
