Christian Education

Seeds of faith can’t grow unless they are watered! God has called us to be Disciples of Christ and opportunities abound at Forest Hills Presbyterian to grow in faith in God and encourage us in our Christian walk. We offer a variety of Bible studies, Sunday school classes and seasonal studies.

SUNDAYS
We offer Sunday school classes for adults at 9:15 a.m. in the classrooms located in the U-shaped building behind the chapel.

ADULTS
Over the Cup meets in room 15 and uses DVD curriculums and discussion to learn how to follow Jesus and apply our faith to daily life. No advance preparation or homework required.

KID’S CORNER
Children ages 4 through 5th grade can come by anytime Sundays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. to room 14 for Bible-based puzzles, books, activity books and coloring pages. Drop in early or right before church for unstructured activities and fun. Teachers George and Marcia Suter are there to supervise and answer any questions.

NURSERY
Betty Mullis, our nursery coordinator, teaches lessons using the Wee Children at Church curriculum during worship from 9:45 – 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH
Children’s church is available for children kindergarten through 5th grade. Children are escorted from worship to Larrick Hall for age-appropriate Bible lessons, games and crafts. Fun, faith and friendship is nurtured here! Children’s church is coordinated by Karen Zinszer and a team of dedicated volunteers. All of our children’s teachers and volunteers have completed our Child Protection Policy training course and a background check. Most of our teachers are current or retired educators from Hillsborough County schools. Our classes offer age-appropriate Bible lessons and are designed to help our children learn about God and how to put their faith into practice in daily life.

YOUTH GROUP
Youth group for kids in grades 6-12 is held Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in our youth room, located between our chapel and craft cottage. New Direction Youth Ministries exists to honor God by introducing students to Jesus Christ, connecting them with other Christians, and teaching them to love God and others, to grow in Christ and community, and to reach their neighbors and the nations. At youth group, teens worship, play games and learn about God using Bible-based lessons.

WOMEN
Presbyterian Women sponsors monthly Bible studies for women September through May. Women can attend any of three different small groups or “circles” that meet during the day or evening. All Circles meet on the fourth Thursday of the month. Harmony Circle meets at 9:30 a.m. on campus, University Circle meets at University Village at 1 p.m., and Peace Circle at 7 p.m. For more information about these studies and locations, call the church office (813) 932-6149.

MEN
The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study meets Wednesdays at 8:00 a.m at Mama’s Restaurant at 9312 N. Florida Avenue. Reg Dickey is the group leader.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNERS
Join us for family-friendly meals and special programs every Wednesday beginning at 5:45 p.m. in Larrick Hall. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m. Several times a year, Pastor Claudia Henderson leads the program with a Bible study series or book study.
