Children & Youth

KID’S CORNER
Children ages 4 through 5th grade can come by anytime Sundays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. to room 14 for Bible-based puzzles, books, activity books and coloring pages. Drop in early or right before church for unstructured activities and fun. Teachers George and Marcia Suter are there to supervise and answer any questions.

NURSERY
We offer a nursery for infants and children through age 4 located in the church offices behind the sanctuary.Our nursery is open from 9:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Sundays. The nursery is staffed by Marilla Bottomley, a registered nurse, and volunteers. Betty Mullis, our nursery coordinator, teaches lessons using the Wee Children at church curriculum during the worship hour. Both Marilla and Betty are trained in CPR.

FAMILY ROOM
We have a family room available on the second-floor balcony of the sanctuary for parents who prefer to keep their infants or young children with them during the worship service. This enclosed room is equipped with a playpen and allows parents to see and hear the service while their little ones move about.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH
Children’s church is available for children kindergarten through 5th grade. Children are escorted from worship to Larrick Hall for age-appropriate Bible lessons, games and crafts. Fun, faith and friendship is nurtured here! Children’s church is coordinated by Karen Zinszer and a team of dedicated volunteers.

YOUTH GROUP
Youth group for kids in grades 6-12 is held Wednesdays from 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. in our youth room, located between our chapel and craft cottage. New Direction Youth Ministries exists to honor God by introducing students to Jesus Christ, connecting them with other Christians, and teaching them to love God and others, to grow in Christ and community, and to reach their neighbors and the nations. At youth group, teens worship, play games and learn about God using Bible-based lessons. They also develop friendships and grow in faith as they participate in special events such as Night of Joy, Rock the Universe, beach trips, sleep overs, volunteering and attending summer camps at Montreat, NC and Cedarkirk in Lithia, FL.

DRAMA CLUB
Our middle and high school youth perform Christian skits and dramas, some of which they have written themselves. Led by Laura Lewicki, the youth learn public speaking, acting, stage design and creative writing. Their performances have been featured at church events, luncheons and worship services.

EASTER AND CHRISTMAS CAMPS
Offered for children in K-5, these special camps are held in the weeks leading up to Easter and Christmas on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The popular camps feature special activities, lessons and crafts that focus on the Christian meaning of each season.

FHPC Learning Center
Our center offers daycare, preschool and after school programs and is located at the back of our campus. The school recently earned a Five Star Rating from the Quality Count for Kids Program. The center provides Christ-centered care, education and guidance for all children and families in our community. Love, learning and laughter go together in our center which is staffed by certified teachers. www.fhplctampa.org
