Part-Time Director of Music Ministry – Forest Hills Presbyterian Church
Forest Hills Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time Director of Music Ministry (20 hours per week) to lead and grow a vibrant, intergenerational music program.
About the Role:
The Director of Music Ministry will direct choirs, handbells, and instrumental groups, coordinating music that enhances worship services and special church events. This role is ideal for someone who loves blending traditional and contemporary sacred music, enjoys working with people of all ages, and is passionate about using music to deepen the worship experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead choir(s), handbells, and instrumental ensembles.
- Collaborate with the pastor and worship team to select hymns, choral, and instrumental music.
- Conduct regular rehearsals and mentor musicians of varying skill levels.
- Plan and provide music for worship services, Advent, Lent, and other special occasions.
- Oversee music library, instruments, and budget planning.
- Coordinate guest musicians, workshops, and special music programs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a choir and instrumental director.
- Bachelor’s degree in music or related field.
- Ability to design and implement a comprehensive church music program.
- Comfortable working with all ages and musical skill levels.
- Flexible, adaptable, and open to diverse musical styles (traditional to contemporary).
- Strong leadership, teaching, and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and ministry of the church.
Hours & Compensation: Part-time, 20 hours per week (seasonal flexibility required around holidays). Compensation negotiable, based on experience.
